Pre-Code.Com Site News for October 2016
September was rough for me. Was it rough for you? Between the disappearance of Rarefilmm and a couple of other places I get my movie fix from (I was even without TCM for a few days because of issues with my VPN), it’s been no fun.
But as I’m writing this, I’m three months from moving out of Japan. No idea where to, but that’s how life is sometimes. I’m also 10 weeks away from finishing my Master’s, which means more time for the site. Hooray!
I’m assuming that TCM heard the complaints last year about skipping over the Universal horror canon, because this year it’s playing in spades. Luckily, they’ve got a majority of their pre-Code thrillers– including The Invisible Man and The Mummy– playing on the night of the 29th, definitely the perfect time for an all-nighter.
There’s also a surprising number of Buster Keaton talkies cropping up in the early morning this month, which I guess relates because they’re also all pretty scary. Helen Twelvetrees gets a full morning to herself on the 24th, which I am definitely looking forward to.
I also made notes of some of the rarer films showing this month. For ones that I’ve already reviewed, definitely check out Bed of Roses (which I desperately need to revisit), Aggie Appleby: Maker of Men, the elegiac The Stranger Returns, and the very nutso, very fun Gabriel Over the White House. Plus, you know, the horror movies.

I was sad over the disappearance of Rarefilmm too 🙁 Did the site get shut down?
Also, I was wondering if you could help me out with something … if I were to install a VPN on my computer, would that allow me access to Watch TCM?
