Hey everyone! So I’m sorry for the slow pace around here. I had another vacation in May (am I complaining about that? I hope not), it’s summer reading kick-off time which means I’m doing fifty things at once, and I think I’m suffering from some light depression. If that’s a thing.
But that’s okay! June looks like a great month to sit back and watch some pre-Code movies. Well, not me. Again, summer reading, and I’m picking up extra hours at my second job. And my daughter is potty training. Right now I’m falling asleep to decades old-Britcoms at 9 PM most nights.
Which is immaterial here! The good news is that June’s star of the month on TCM is Leslie Howard, who has been in a good number of pre-Codes I haven’t seen. It also means that TCM is showing Berkeley Square again; they were showing it once a month there for a while, and, honestly, I began to miss it popping up on the schedule.
Filmstruck, meanwhile, has a number of excellent drops– if Queen Christina isn’t their TCM Select for the week, they’re nuts. I’m also happy to blanket assume who the star of the week will be at the end of June; I’m pretty sure you can figure it out, too.
This month’s cover image comes from the always-great Doctor Macro. Swing by and gaze at the multitudes of splendor contained therein!
Lastly, just a friendly a reminder: if you want to support my site, you can become a Patron over at Patreon. Cheers!

Would you be able to list your “not-to-miss” films streaming on Filmstruck? Just one or two?
I still really enjoy this site. I’m sorry for the bit of depression. ANY depression is a bummer.

Who is the young lady pictured on the header page of this website with Leslie Howard, and what movie is it from?
Danny · June 2, 2018 at 9:41 pm
Five and Ten is the movie, and that’s Marion Davies. 🙂
