Pre-Code.Com Site News for April 2017
Hey everyone. March ended up really rough; my talented sister, Katie, passed away very suddenly from cancer. She’d been diagnosed in late January, went to surgery in February, and passed last week. I don’t really want to go very much into it, but it’s hard, you know? My sister and I grew up watching The Adventures of Robin Hood, Calamity Jane and Singin’ in the Rain over and over and over again. I’m still processing everything, so if I miss a few updates in April, that’s all on me.
Showing on TCM this month are many of the usual suspects of pre-Code showings, but there’s also a day devoted to Frances Marion on the 20th and the 27th is devoted to classic pre-Code scuzball Ricardo Cortez.
Patreon Bonus for April
I announced back last week that I started a Patreon for the site. Every month, Patreons who pledge $3-a-month or more will get bonus content or sweepstakes. To kick off the Patreon, those above $3 who sign up before the festival will get both the pins that I’ve designed to hand out at this years TCM Film Festival sent in the mail. People who I see there will get the pins in person, though if you’re not a patron, you only get one!
For $10-a-month, you can sponsor a review once a month. If you’re one of those patrons, go ahead and
email me what you want to see– those will begin to drop in May.
Both of those tiers of patrons will also get my reporting and pictures from the TCM Film Fest, which starts on Tuesday, over at the Patreon feed. It should be fun.

Danny, once again my deepest sympathies to you and your family. That timeline is especially heartbreaking, I’m so sorry, my friend. I hope the TCM festival really gives you a chance at some light moments, and best of luck on the Patreon.

So sorry, Danny. I lost a brother a lifetime ago, and things are never the same. You will get through it, though. Prayers.

I’d love to see you post an updated review of DRACULA (1931). The one that you’ve got on your site is from 2013. I’m curious to see if any of your thoughts or opinions have changed since then.
