Hey everyone! Happy August. Temperatures have cooled over here in Germany, and now I get to enjoy rain and mud. But there are still bright spots available. For example, my author’s copy of Pre-Code Essentials arrived from Running Press. Look at this beaut!

I had someone ask, so I wanted to make sure to highlight that this a completely original book; while I covered almost all of the movies within it on this site, all of the writing and material is completely new, with new stuff from the Production Code files included. Kim even went the extra mile and made sure that 99% of the stills we used for the book weren’t repeating pictures from Vieira’s Forbidden Hollywood or the Forbidden Cocktails book.

So it’s going to be pretty special. As I will post again, now and forever, you can order it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, and Larry Edmunds. I encourage you to buy two copies, just in case one of your end tables become wobbly at any point in the future.

Also, Kim and I have some events planned around early November which will see me on the East Coast promoting the book, so stay tuned for more info on that!

In non-book promo news, Turner Classic Movies, who is, uh, publishing my book, is celebrating their annual and much beloved Summer Under the Stars in August. This is usually a dry spot for pre-Codes, and things aren’t too different, with Glenda Farrell’s day (the 11th, my wedding anniversary!) having the largest number of entries to choose from. While it’s not a lot, there are still some choice pictures to pick!
